About Us

Mission

The mission of Pointe Coupee Human Services Center is to increase the availability and accessibility of appropriate, effective, community-based prevention, treatment, and assessment/referral services for individuals faced with chemical use problems, in order to improve the lifestyles of Pointe Coupee Parish citizens.

Our Goal

The goal of the Pointe Coupee Human Services Center is to assist the community in developing optimum identification, intervention, prevention and rehabilitation strategies aimed at reducing the incidence and prevalence of chemical dependency, chemical use problems, and their associated consequences.

Our Background

The Pointe Coupee Health Services District № 1 (PCHSD) is a subdivision of the State of Louisiana and Parish of Pointe Coupee, created pursuant to statute by the Pointe Coupee Parish Police Jury (PCPPJ) to provide for and administer health services and facilities for the citizens of Pointe Coupee Parish. In 1985, the PCHSD, together with the South Louisiana Hazelden Alumni Foundation, was most fortunate in obtaining a federal block grant for this project from the State of Louisiana, Office of Alcohol and Drug Abuse. In support of these efforts, the PCPPJ authorized the use of 5% of the avails of a 1¢ renewed sales tax levied and collected within the confines of the parish, thereby enabling these programs to continue.
